Question: What is meshstastics? What is a skillshare party?

Valid questions. Meshtastics is a communication technology that allows for sending text messages via radio waves, rather than relying on cell signal.

It's similar to how walkie-talkies work. The radio tech is combined with internet-like networking tech for an extended range.

It requires a node and a texting device, which could be your cell phone, or something else.

We'll talk about what all that means in more depth on Friday!

A skillshare party is a party where you also learn skills! If you have knowledge, tools, or questions, please bring them! But the only requirement is that you bring curiosity.

If you have any questions about meshtastic or want to share resources before the event, please check out the Padlet we made. We can try to do some research about any questions before the party, and you can also add your own answers and resources if you find out anything!

Question: Do I need to know anything about tech or bring anything?

No, most of us there will be total beginners and we'll work together to understand technical concepts. Hope will be our resident meshtastic tech whiz and give us an overview and try to answer questions. She is also bringing equipment for us to learn and tinker with. However if you are coming in with expertise please let it be known and if you have equipment to share that is also welcome!
